Winston Salem Barber School is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) and approved by the North Carolina Board of Barber Examiners. The school is certified by the Department of Education to administer financial aid to those who qualify.

Established in 1935, Winston-Salem Barber School is well known in the state of North Carolina. Instructors are highly trained and knowledgeable in the latest hair styling techniques to best prepare the barber/styling student for entry into the barber /styling profession. Our goal is to graduate qualified barber/stylists and see them gainfully employed in their profession.

An applicant must be at least sixteen years of age and have proof of former education – a copy of high school diploma, transcript or GED certificate. He must have an interview at the school and fill out an application. There is no charge to fill out this application. Winston Salem Barber School does not discriminate on the basis or sex, race, ethnic origin or religion.

New classes begin the first Tuesday of each month, as space is available. The school will set the enrollment date. The course is 1528 hours and takes approximately thirty-eight weeks of forty hours each week. School days are Tuesdays through Saturdays.

HOW OUR STUDENTS ARE DOING

To help you make a good decision about whether to sign up for the Barber/Stylist program, Winston-Salem Barber School wants you to know that, during the period July 2016 through June 2017:

22% or 28 of the 129 students enrolled during that period either dropped out or were expelled.
39% or 17 of the 44 students graduating during that period finished the program on-time or within ten months.
96% or 44 of the 46 students graduated during that period have taken or are scheduled to take the Apprentice Exam administered by the State Board of Barber Examiners.
